For the past eight years, Portland Swing Project dancers have been fortunate to learn and dance in the beautiful, historic Mechanics' Hall Ballroom, and it has been a perfect home for them as they steward the American art form of swing dance through our classes and events.
However, swing dance is just one of the many arts and culture programs at the Hall each week. Literary readings, craft lectures, traditional and contemporary music, modern dance, and theater productions are also regularly programmed at the Mechanics' Hall, where stewardship of this historic venue drives their commitment to making space available for Portland's arts and culture community.
The Portland Swing Project believes in the mission of Mechanics' Hall, and invites you invite you to support our work by encouraging your membership. Their new pricing structure for classes incentivizes membership at Mechanics' Hall by offering a significant discount on dance classes for Mechanics' Hall members.
Pricing for 7-week sessions will be as follows:
$75 for Mechanics' Hall members and $95 for non-members.
An individual membership to Mechanics' Hall costs $50 for a year. In addition to supporting the historic preservation of Mechanics' Hall, supporting programming, and receiving a discount on swing classes, there are other great benefits to membership, including:
- Borrowing privileges from the library, which has generous loan periods and a short waiting list for new and popular titles.
- Free and/or discounted tickets to most programs at The Hall
- 10% discount on books sold during literary programs at The Hall.
- 10% discount on Mechanics' Hall merchandise.
Full-time students can still take Portland Swing Project classes for 50% off, and also receive a free membership to Mechanics' Hall.
