Join our ever-growing community of changemakers supporting Maine’s Arts and Humanities.

At Mechanics’ Hall, we invite you to join our ever-growing community of changemakers supporting Maine’s Arts and Humanities. Your donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference in the sustainability and accessibility of this cherished institution.

Mechanics' Hall invests in incubating new work, elevating discourse and inspiring wonder and curiosity.

Here are just a few ways we’ve done that in the last year:

  • 40 + book launches and literary events feature renowned authors such as Jacqueline Woodson, Ann Patchett, Richard Blanco, Celeste Ng, as well as local Maine writers like Caitlin Shetterly, Jeri Theriault, and Keziah Weir.
  • 3 sold-out shows of CarmXn, a new adaptation of the classic opera Carmen exploring boundaries of geopolitics, gender, and genre, produced by Hogfish, an artists’ collaborative based in Cape Elizabeth.
  • Residency with Palaver Strings and littlehousedance for NOISEFLOOR, an interdisciplinary performance with a new composition by Courtney Swain, premiering at Portland’s State Theatre in December 2023.
  • Monthly Creatives Gathering by Signature Soul fosters community through idea sharing and music.

DONATION IMPACT:

Your generous contribution empowers Mechanics’ Hall to encourage creative expression through performances, rehearsals, and residencies with dancers, singers, and musicians.

Your support celebrates authors, poets, illustrators, and helps us host forums for innovative ideas for design, technology and engineering.

Your donation ensures that many of our programs are free or more affordable for artists, students, and audience members who might not otherwise afford these experiences.

By investing in the preservation of our historic building, you play a pivotal role in promising that future generations will have a home in the Arts District that inspires, educates, and brings our community together.

Your generosity will have a lasting impact on our community, and we look forward to seeing you at The Hall!

With gratitude,

- The Mechanics' Hall team
